This new project sounds more suited for Koei: Sega is developing a new MMORPG based on the Three Kingdoms period in China's history. This is the same period where Dynasty Warriors and Romance of the Three Kingdoms (both from Koei) are set.
The game is titled Sanguko Seisen, translated as "Saga of the Three Kingdoms." In the game, players will be immersed in ancient Chinese culture, and has emphasis on strategic and tactical thinking and maneuvering.
The game is part of Sega's "China Series." Unfortunately, the game might only be released in China itself. Closed testing has already started, and will continue through May. Hopefully they'll also release the game in other regions.

Turbine Inc. recently sent out a press release announcing the release of a new mini-game for their Mines of Moria website. It might not be for the upcoming expansion to The Lord of the Rings Online, but we've tried it, and it's fun nevertheless.
The game, called Swig and Toss is an axe-throwing competition that adds a bit of drinking and wagering into the mix to make things more interesting. The game last ten rounds, and you basically try to get as high a score as possible by wagering your gold coins. You can drink some ale, which will allow you to wager more money (because you're drunk and probably not thinking straight) and at the same time impair your ability to aim properly.
The game's quite tough when you've had a bit to drink, but if you can time everything just right, you should be able to hit the bullseye regardless of how much you drink. You can check out the new minigame by visiting the website below. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures we have of the minigame in question!

The tier four Empire vs. Chaos Scenarios are currently the focus of our update on EA Mythic's upcoming MMO, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Details have been revealed on the Grovod Caverns and the Reikland Hills.
The Grovod Caverns is a 12 vs. 12 scenario which can be accessed by players between the levels of 23 and 40. In essence, this particular scenario features mechanics of Capture The Flag with a few twists and turns. There are going to be five entrances and exits. Players will have to maneuver though the map in a fast manner in order to succeed.
Players who are between the levels 23 and 40 can use the 18 vs. 18 scenario, namely the Reikland Hills. The premise of this is pretty much like King of the Hill. Players will have to capture various locations and defend it until time runs out. Basically, it's either you conquer or you defend different areas to achieve victory.
The devs have also included more nitty-gritty details on the two scenarios. You can read more on them by visiting the link below. Just be sure to come back to this space for more updates and news on the game.

Nothing in the world shows your undying affection for your mother quite like a tattoo. Barring the removal of your skin or a surgical procedure, that tattoo will be a reminder of your love for the rest of your life.
If you're interested in the idea of a tattoo but don't actually want one on your own body, why not get a virtual tattoo for Mother's Day? It just so happens that Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean Online is celebrating the spirit of the season with some virtual "I Love Mom" tattoos for people's avatars.
Note that the tattoos will only be made available for players until midnight of May 12 (PDT), so be sure to get one before the time's up. That being said, don't forget to log off the game and give your mother a real-life hug too, just to let her know you care.

The latest explosive revelation from Jagex Ltd. should get RuneScape fans off their seats. If you thought the MMORPG can't get any better given its accessibility and low entry level friendly to older computers, the upcoming visual overhaul will tell you developers aren't slacking off.
According to a post on RuneScape's official website, a complete graphical rework has been in the works for the past year and it's going to be available soon. In addition to taking graphics up a notch, an option to play in full screen will be introduced and allow RuneScape to run on higher resolutions compatible with widescreen monitors.
As proof, devs released a sweet screenshot showcasing RuneScape's improved textures and sharper character model. There's no need to let it intimidate you, because Jagex promised the game still can be played on most PCs. You can find screen above in its high resolution glory.

World of Warcraft (commonly
abbreviated as WoW) is a massively multiplayer
online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Blizzard
Entertainment. It is the 4th game in the Warcraft series,
excluding expansion packs and the cancelled
Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans.
The Warcraft games are set in the aptly named Warcraft Universe, a
fantasy setting introduced by
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994.
World of Warcraft is set four years after the events at the
conclusion of Blizzard's previous release,
Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne,
where the strategy portent of the series ends.
World of Warcraft is a radical departure from the standard real
time simulation play-style of other Warcraft themed games. At
launch, the game was widely hailed as one of the leading MMORPGs
on the market for its low learning curve, and low down-time,
typical in most MMORPGs. Because of its low learning curve, fun
quests, easy level advancement with minimal grinding and low
down-time, World of Warcraft has become one of the most
popular MMORPGs in the world, with more than 6.0 million active
subscriptions. The game is highly regarded as a success, although
its release was hampered with server stability and performance
issues which continue intermittently.

monthly for any additional content ID thereafter.
The second

EverQuest (EQ) is a 3D fantasy massively multiplayer online
role-playing game (MMORPG) that was released on March 16, 1999. The
original design is credited to Brad McQuaid, Steve Clover, and Bill
Trost. It was developed by Verant Interactive (which had recently
parted from 989 Studios) and published by Sony Online Entertainment
(SOE). SOE currently runs and distributes EverQuest. The game's
sequel, EverQuest II, was released in 2004.
To play, one must initially pay for the game software and then pay a
recurring monthly fee; a free trial is also available for those who
wish to experience the game before paying. EverQuest was, for a
time, the most popular MMORPG in the industry.
In the game, players explore a Tolkienesque fantasy world of sword
and sorcery, fighting monsters and enemies for treasure and
experience points and interacting with other players. As they
progress, players advance in level, gaining power, prestige and
abilities. Players can also procure powerful items for their
characters in a variety of ways: through slaying monsters (and then
looting whatever items they were carrying), doing "quests" (tasks
and adventures given by non-player characters ( NPCs ) in which a
reward is given upon success), or by gathering raw materials and
then fashioning them, via numerous trade skills such as tailoring or
blacksmithing, into useful (or not-so-useful, but nevertheless fun)
items. In structure and rules, the game is a direct descendant of
the famed Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. Many of the elements
from EverQuest have also been drawn from text-based MUD (multi-user
dungeon) games, especially DikuMUD.
The game features a 3D environment set in the fictional world of
Norrath, its moon Luclin and alternate planes of reality. The
geography of the EverQuest universe is vast—few have visited all of
the nearly 400 zones. Multiple instances of the world exist on
various servers, each one hosting between 1000 and 3000 simultaneous
players online during peak times. After selecting a server, a player
can create multiple characters by choosing from a variety of classes
and races (e.g., humans, gnomes, trolls, halflings, elves, etc.).
The main aspect of gameplay involves grouping with fellow players to
kill monsters for experience and gear. Beyond that, a player can
explore the large world, socialize, role-play, join player guilds,
master trade skills, and duel other players (in restricted
situations — EQ only allows Player versus Player (PvP) combat on the
PvP-specific server, in designated arenas, or in a consensual duel
in a limited number of locations. |
